Words are said to be the most abstract form of communication, words make it possible to carry on an entire conversation with another person through the use of metonymy. It is what society uses to convey certain thoughts and ideas. As important as words are for communicating, it would be difficult to get a particular message across without visual assistance. The font which is applied to a word will automatically give its reader a particular message. For example, Beverly’s logo number four has big, bubbly letters with flower cut outs. Such a font is associated with being young and girly. This text is similar to the clothing line “Hurley”. A comparable font is used by this brand and is extremely popular with girls between the ages of eight and eighteen. It is visually appealing to such an age group largely do to the fact that the font is cute and fun. Advertisers become successful by choosing styles which give consumers certain messages, such as being sweet and girly. Flowers are associated with being a girl and right away girls will be attracted to this brad based on its visual appeal. If text number two had been chosen for a brand which was trying to appeal to teenage girls the font would not have had the same affect as font number four.
